Laboratory
Collaborative Laboratory Services, L.L.C. (CLS) provides
complete clinical laboratory and anatomic pathology
services to Ottumwa Regional Health Center. CLS is an
independent laboratory accredited by CLIA and the College
of American Pathologists (CAP) and accepted by the Joint
Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
(JCAHO). CLS is owned by Ottumwa Regional Health Center,
University of Iowa Community Medical Services and Community
Pathology Consultants, PC and is focused towards local
delivery of patient-focused laboratory results of the
highest quality, committed to enhancing the care of
all people in our service area through continuous quality
improvement.
The laboratory has 73 staff members, including one
M.D. certified in clinical and anatomic pathology, one
M.D., Ph.D. certified in clinical pathology, one Ph.D.
certified in clinical microbiology, 25 medical technologist/technicians,
three histologists, two cytotechnologists, 12 phlebotomists,
one RN (Infection Control), secretaries, billing staff
and couriers. The clinical laboratory is staffed 24
hours a day, seven days a week, and the anatomic pathology
department is staffed from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through
Friday.
The laboratory uses Mayo Medical Laboratories, the
University Hygienic Laboratory, University of Iowa Hospital
Laboratories, and Southeast Iowa Blood Center for referral
services.
In addition to serving Ottumwa Regional Health Center,
Ottumwa physicians, Ottumwa nursing homes and other
Ottumwa health clinics and agencies, the laboratory
serves hospitals and physicians in Mount Pleasant, Fairfield,
Richland, Eldon, Eddyville, Keosauqua, Bonaparte, Farmington,
Sigourney, Newton, and Bloomfield.
