Radiology Services
The
Department of Radiology is a consultative service that
emphasizes an integrated approach to medical imaging
at the lowest possible radiation exposure to the patient.
Along with conventional x-ray examinations, the department's
capabilities include spiral 3D computer tomography,
ultrasonography, a full range of nuclear medicine studies
(including SPECT imaging), magnetic resonance imaging,
mammography, and special procedures.
Radiologists are available on a 24-hour basis for consultation
regarding interpretation and particular diagnostic problems.
All diagnostic imaging and therapeutic procedures are
performed by or under the supervision of radiologists
who are board certified and are members of the medical
staff of Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
Radiologic
and MRI technologists are registered by the American
Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or are registry
eligible. Sonographers are registered by the American
Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
Nuclear Medicine Technologists are certified by the
Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
and/or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
(ARRT).
In addition to "in house" services, mobile
services for stereotactic breast biopsy and bone density
are available on a scheduled basis. Mobile services
for ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and mammography are
additionally provided to several surrounding communities.
